EDMONTON, Alberta – Positive Intent Events (PIE) is breaking new ground with the launch of Canada’s first adult-only, alcohol-free festival cannabis consumption garden at the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival. The PIE Experience Garden promises to be a unique oasis where adult guests can enjoy mocktails, alcohol-free beers, and receive on-site delivery of cannabis drinks and edibles—all in a relaxed and fun environment.

The introduction of such events has been made possible by updates to Alberta’s Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Regulation, allowing licensed cannabis retailers to operate temporary sales at adult-only events like trade shows and festivals. These regulatory changes, announced in December 2023 and effective as of January 2024, aim to reduce barriers for businesses while combating the illegal cannabis market.
Located directly inside the Fringe Fest gates, across from the Strathcona Farmers Market, the PIE Experience Garden has strict age-check requirements for entry and a second age-check for cannabis product delivery on-site. Cannabis retail partner NUMO Cannabis will handle on-site deliveries from a special Fringe Fest menu, ensuring guests receive their products within 30 minutes or less. Guests can also order in advance via the NUMO Cannabis website for easy pick-up inside the garden.
