Public Affairs Associate
Alexandra Ballos is a Public Affairs Associate at Diplomat Consulting, where she brings a research-driven, community-informed approach to strategy, stakeholder engagement, and communications.
She is the Founder and Executive Director of the Gravel Road Civics Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening civic education and democratic participation in small-town and rural Alberta. Through GRCP, she has designed and led initiatives that involve needs assessment, program design, partnership-building, and facilitation– experience that translates into a strong ability to understand local contexts, surface stakeholder concerns, and craft engagement strategies that meet people where they are. She is also the Co-founder of MuniciPAL, a Calgary-based non-profit focused on increasing voter turnout and fostering ongoing civic engagement between election cycles.
Currently completing her MA in Political Science at the University of Calgary, Alexandra’s work focuses on democratic governance and political culture in Western Canada. She has contributed to several major research initiatives, most notably Common Ground Alberta at the University of Alberta, which combines public-opinion research and engagement to better understand political attitudes, trust, and behaviour. Across these roles, she draws on qualitative methods and computational text analysis to distill complex data into clear, actionable insights for policy, public affairs, and strategic communications.
Alexandra is deeply committed to civic engagement and the health of democracy in Canada. In her role at Diplomat, she hopes to leverage her research and community experience to help clients build thoughtful, effective public affairs and government-relations strategies.
